Govindam Ādi Puruṣam

1.

govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi
govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi
govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi 

Synonyms

govindam – Lord Govinda (Krishna, who gives pleasure to the senses and cows); ādi-puruṣam – the original person; tam – Him; aham – I; bhajāmi – worship;

Translation

I worship Govinda, the original Supreme Personality of Godhead.


2.

veṇuṁ kvaṇantam aravinda-dalāyatākṣam
barhāvataṁsam asitāmbuda-sundarāṅgam
kandarpa-koṭi-kamanīya-viśeṣa-śobham

govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi
govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi
govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi

Synonyms

veṇum – flute; kvaṇantam – playing sweetly; aravinda-dala-āyata-akṣam – lotus-petal-like wide eyes; barha-āvataṁsam – with peacock feather on His head; asita-ambuda-sundara-aṅgam – with limbs beautiful like a dark raincloud; kandarpa-koṭi-kamanīya-viśeṣa-śobham – having a beauty that surpasses that of millions of Cupids; govindam – Lord Govinda (Krishna, who gives pleasure to the senses and cows); ādi-puruṣam – the original person; tam – Him; aham – I; bhajāmi – worship;

Translation

I worship Govinda, the original Lord, who plays on His flute, whose eyes are like lotus petals, who is adorned with a peacock feather, whose beautiful limbs resemble a dark raincloud, and whose incomparable beauty enchants millions of Cupids.

aṅgāni yasya sakalendriya-vṛtti-manti
paśyanti pānti kalayanti ciraṁ jaganti
ānanda-cinmaya-sad-ujjvala-vigrahasya

govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi
govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi
govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi 

Synonyms

aṅgāni – limbs; yasya – of whom; sakala-indriya-vṛtti-manti – endowed with all the functions of the senses; paśyanti – see; pānti – protect; kalayanti – manifest; ciram – eternally; jaganti – the universes; jānanda-cinmaya-sat-ujjvala-vigrahasya – whose form is eternally blissful, full of knowledge and spiritual brilliance

Translation

I worship Govinda, the original Supreme Lord, whose transcendental form is full of bliss, knowledge, and splendor; all of His limbs perform all functions—He sees, maintains, and manifests the worlds with every part of His body.`
