namas te nārasiṁhāya
prahlādāhlāda-dāyine
hiraṇyakaśipor vakṣaḥ-
śilā-ṭaṅka-nakhālaye

Synonyms

namaḥ – obeisances; te – unto You; nārasiṁhāya – to Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva (nara = man, siṁha = lion); prahlāda – to Prahlāda Mahārāja; ahlāda – pleasure, delight; dāyine – giver; hiraṇyakaśipoḥ – of Hiraṇyakaśipu (the demon); vakṣaḥ – chest; śilā – stone; ṭaṅka – chisel; nakhālaye – whose nails are like chisels (used to split)

Translation

I offer my respectful obeisances unto Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva, who is the source of great joy to Prahlāda Mahārāja and whose nails are like chisels on the stone-like chest of the demon Hiraṇyakaśipu.

ito nṛsiṁhaḥ parato nṛsiṁho
yato yato yāmi tato nṛsiṁhaḥ
bahir nṛsiṁho hṛdaye nṛsiṁhaḥ
nṛsiṁham ādiṁ śaraṇaṁ prapadye

itaḥ – here; nṛsiṁhaḥ – Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva; parataḥ – there (elsewhere); nṛsiṁhaḥ – Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva; yataḥ yataḥ – wherever; yāmi – I go; tataḥ – there; nṛsiṁhaḥ – Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva; bahiḥ – outside; nṛsiṁhaḥ – Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva; hṛdaye – in the heart; nṛsiṁhaḥ – Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva; nṛsiṁham – Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva; ādim – the original one, the beginning; śaraṇam – shelter; prapadye – I surrender

Translation

Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva is present here, and He is also present there. Wherever I go, Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva is there. He is inside and He is outside. I surrender unto Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva, the original Supreme Person and my only shelter.

tava kara-kamala-vare nakham adbhuta-śṛṅgaṁ
dalita-hiraṇyakaśipu-tanu-bhṛṅgam
keśava dhṛta-narahari-rūpa jaya jagadīśa hare
jaya jagadīśa harejaya jagadīśa hare

tava – Your; kara – hand; kamala – lotus; vare – best, exalted; nakham – nails; adbhuta – wonderful; śṛṅgam – points or tips (here refers to the pointed nails); dalita – split, torn apart; hiraṇyakaśipu – Hiraṇyakaśipu (the demon); tanu – body; bhṛṅgam – like a bee (symbolizing how the Lord attacked like a bee); keśava – O Keśava (a name of Kṛṣṇa, killer of the Keśī demon); dhṛta – assumed; nara-hari-rūpa – the form of half-man, half-lion; jaya – all glories; jagad-īśa – O Lord of the universe; hare – O Hari (the Supreme Lord)

Translation

Your beautiful lotus hands possess wonderful pointed nails. With them, You tore apart the body of the bee-like demon Hiraṇyakaśipu. O Keśava! You have assumed the form of Nara-Hari (half-man, half-lion).
All glories to You, O Lord of the universe! O Hari!
